About

Hi!

Thanks for dropping by.

My name is Riggy.  I live on the south west coast of Australia.

I have had a kind of love/hate relationship with blogging for a while, resulting in a break from blogging at my original blog - Moved Mountains.

I’ve decided to start over here at Missional Tribe.  I’m a long time fan of Rick Meigs and John Smulo and some of the other original members here and have enjoyed lurking in the shadows.

I am a part of an original, missional community in the small city of Bunbury.  I hope to be able to share some of the ups and downs of our community here and to continue learning, and maybe, interacting more with others doing similar things around the world.

I left paid employment as a small church pastor about 3 months ago after struggling with my role in the established church for many years.  I have been involved in the community services (NGO) field for quite a few years and work in Central Africa as well as here in the South West.

I recently took up a position as youth development officer with the City of Bunbury.

I’m feeling a bit at a loss at the moment (unmotivated, discontent, disconnected!) due mainly to having recently had spinal surgery.  This has meant that I have been spending most of my time on my back in bed and unable to leave the house for the last 2 weeks, and I have another 4 weeks of doing the same.

I am experiencing isolation and disconnection from my community and struggling with this.  It’s kind of interesting to experience, first hand, how the spirit and body and mind respond to this kind of thing.

When not suffering from spinal problems I enjoy the beach and surfing and hanging out with friends, reading, theology, and being with my family (wife Alyssa and three kids - Samuel, Luke & daughter,  Ashleigh).

Today I am 37.

I look forward to meeting more of you and interacting with you here and hope to learn and grow through the process.

Blessings!
